Pain Free with Chiropractic Care. It Works!

Pain. We all fight against it. Although it can be a useful indicator to a problem at times, the obstacles it can present to normal functioning can be significant. Seeking medication or even surgery to alleviate discomfort is common, but not always effective. While these approaches can bring relief, they are often not necessary, superficial, and only treat symptoms. Pain will recur until the root cause is addressed. Chiropractic care focuses on the root cause of an ailment, aligning spinal joints and nerves for optimal function. Coupled with physical therapy, this is the straightforward approach to addressing physical ailments at their core. It is not a quick fix. It is an accurate and real solution.

The most common ailment in the chiropractic world is acute low back pain. Many people suffer from this due to sitting for too long and use drugs as their first defensive in seeking relief. Fortunately, there is another choice for pain management. Non-invasive treatments such as spinal manipulation and manual therapy have proven to bring 95% healing within 12 weeks for most cases. These evidence-based services provide patients healthier options to manage their pain by avoiding injections, imaging, and opioid use. In addition, those who employ these non-invasive approaches as their first defense, are six times less likely to have surgery.

Hip osteoarthritis (OA) is a common musculoskeletal condition in older adult.  In a formal study, chiropractic care consisting of manipulation, mobilization and muscle stretching, showed a beneficial effect on hip osteoarthritis.  In one controlled trial, patients in the manual therapy treatment group involving manipulation and mobilization had better outcomes on pain, stiffness, hip function, and range of motion (ROM) than the patients in an exercise therapy program. This shows that chiropractic care along with physical therapy can be an effective healing approach.

Less common conditions such as drop foot have been shown to be improved over time with chiropractic care and physical therapy as well. In one instance, 11 chiropractic treatments and five physical therapy sessions over a period of eight weeks corrected the effects of drop foot for a 61-year-old man who acquired the ailment after resting his right leg in the same position for extended periods of time. Combined multimodal chiropractic care and physical therapy proved successful when he remained symptom free after two months.

Viewed as an alternative medicine, chiropractic can be traced to the ancient Egyptians. Practiced in China and Greece as well, its power has been evolving. Now, in modern times, since Daniel David Palmer performed the first documented rudimentary spinal manipulation in 1895 resulting in improved hearing ability, cases of chiropractic adjustments have been abounding. Case studies involving physical therapy to support chiropractic care are common as non-invasive treatments for many ailments. For true and complete healing, chiropractic care paired with physical therapy is the answer.
